On Day 5 we start to see the writing on the walls for some teams, but others leave us guessing…read what’s happening from our Connor Sports Court Side Reporters and see their Final Round predictions.

Gran Canaria:

In Gran Canaria, today’s games opened up the story line of what’s to come in the next round. Korea’s showing has been poor, they are overmatched by the international competition and we are fairly certain they will be heading home. But the question becomes Mexico or Angola…and Mexico is feeling the heat to bring some Championship moves on the Official Court. After Mexico’s loss to Australia today, it could be a big challenge to overcome.

Connor Prediction: Australia, Slovakia, Lithuania, and Mexico

The Haka dance made US headlines when New Zealand evoked some strange looks from Team USA…well the dance seems to be working. In this afternoon match against Ukraine, New Zealand took control in the 2nd half to cruise to an easy victory. Proving the Haka spirit prevails.

The thriller came in the second match. The WolfPack of Finland jumped out to a good start and had a 14-point lead at half against Turkey. Turkey mounted a great comeback and tied the game with 4 seconds to go to send it into OT. Turkey proved too much in the end and the Finnish invasion of 8,000 fans left the arena heartbroken but still loud and proud.

Finally, in the late night matchup, USA again cruised to an easy victory against the undermanned Dominican Republic team. Last day of group play tomorrow.

Connor Prediction: No sure things, but our guess is: USA, Turkey, New Zealand, Dominican Republic

In Granada, the opener was a blow-out. Iran blew away Egypt. Everyone was expecting fireworks from the Brazil - Serbia game. But Brazil was up by 15 midway through the 2nd period…and took the show home finishing 81 to 73 over Serbia.

Big showdown was the boarder country battle of Spain vs. France, Red and Yellow flags throughout the venue … but the home court advantage of the Spanish was too much. And Spain defeated France 88-64.

Connor Prediction: Spain, Brazil, France and Serbia

This afternoon, Puerto Rico had a tight victory over the Philippine National Team…The stands were full of red white and blue as both fan groups pushed to secure a spot in the next round for their team. Puerto Rico came out victorious.

The evening proved what powerhouses really look like on the Official Court. The Cinderella Senegal team was overmatched by a determined Argentina team. And Croatia couldn’t keep up with the power house Greece.

Connor Prediction: Greece, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Croatia
