Champions of Sport: Toronto Raptors Build New Practice Facility that Includes Two Connor Sport Basketball Courts
2 years ago
Earlier this year, the Toronto Raptors dedicated a new two story 68,000 square foot practice facility that includes a locker room, workout area, therapy areas, various offices and two Connor Sports basketball courts.
Prior to building the facility the Raptors shared their practice space with the Maple Leafs, the historic Toronto hockey franchise. Sharing practice space made the Raptors feel they were without a place of their own.
Now, twenty-one years into the Raptors Franchise, the team has a home of their own at their new facility called the BioSteel Center, where they are working on building a championship team representative of the community.
“Our vision for the Raptors is to build the team into a championship contender that represents our city, our entire country and our fans with great pride and is ‘world-class’ in every way,” said Toronto Raptors President and General Manager Masai Ujiri. “The BioSteel Centre is an important part of that vision. It is a development home for the team and will give it the tools we need to continue building on our progress as a franchise.”
The new facility is building off the enthusiasm Toronto has for the Raptors and shows the commitment the Raptors have to their players and home city. The BioSteel Center provides the Raptors and Canadian basketball with a competitive advantage, a practice space for the Canadian national basketball team and a space for the Toronto and Ontario basketball communities to use during the NBA off-season.
The facility also shows the Raptors commitment to the Toronto community as players can use the facility for charity and educational events during off-days. This allows the community to engage with the Raptor’s success and love of basketball while the Raptors motivate and train the next generation of basketball players.
As Champions of Sport, Connor Sports is proud to have provided the two full sized basketball courts for the Toronto Raptors new practice facility. Connor Sports, the NBA franchise and NBA fans have seen the practice and dedication put in on these practice courts pay off as the Raptors compete in the 2016 NBA Playoffs.
“We are thankful to Connor Sports for the role they played in helping make the BioSteel Centre a reality,” said Masai Ujiri.
