Court Dedication at the 65th NBA All-Star Game

As Champions of Community, Connor Sports, the National Basketball Player’s Association Foundation and WestPoint, a local Connor Sports dealer in Ontario, partnered to refurbish hardwood basketball courts at three recreation centers in Toronto during the 65th NBA All Star Game.

Basketball courts at Amesbury in the York community, Armstrong in the Beaches area and Maseryk in the Parkdale were renovated in an effort to rejuvenate safe places for the community to gather, learn and play. Each court received a new custom redesign and a structural makeover including sanding, finishing, sealing that provided much-needed surface renovations that will allow for expanded youth recreational opportunities.

The basketball court at the Maseryk Community Centre was formally dedicated on February 11th with a celebration of community that included youth from the Parkdale neighborhood, Sherrie Deans of the NBA Player’s Association Foundation, Canadian pro basketball players’ Sim Bhullar of the 905 Raptors and Nik Stauskus of the Philadelphia 76ers, City of Toronto Mayor John Tory, Gary Gray of Connor Sports and Mike Caruso of WestPoint Sports Flooring & Equipment of Aurora, Ontario.

“We are deeply committed to supporting the young children and increasing their access to the game of basketball,” said Sherrie Deans, Executive Director, National Basketball Player’s Association Foundation.  “We are so excited to dedicate these three courts and hope that children across Canada will be able to enjoy them for years to come.”

“Connor Sports is extremely proud to have joined our partner the NBA Players Association Foundation to leave behind a positive and tangible legacy that will benefit thousands of youth in Toronto for years to come,” said Jon Isaacs, Connor Sports President and General Manager. “This initiative as part of NBA All Star Weekend in Toronto is a Connor Sports Champions of Community project based on our belief in providing youth with safe places to play and recreate.”

Connor Sports and the NBPA share a common vision where sports is used to shape communities and build champions on and off the court.
