Summer of Colleges

From the west coast to the east coast, colleges are selecting Connor Sports and Connor Sports dealers to build, refinish and redesign their courts. Each college had different court needs but they all turned to Connor Sports for the same reason – they wanted to play on courts built for champions. #WhereChampionsPlay

University of Utah Practice Facility

Mountain Heights, a Connor Sports dealer in American Fork, UT, has been working with the University of Utah on their new basketball practice court. The University of Utah turned to Mountain Heights for a Connor Sports focus court because they wanted to practice on the same court they compete on in the Huntsman Center. The University of Utah men’s and women’s basketball teams now practice and compete on a court that provides their athletes maximum cushion and stability.

“We are pleased with the quality and amazing look of the Connor Sports hardwood courts recently installed in our arena and the new Jon M. and Karen Huntsman Basketball Facility.” - Larry Krystkowiak, Head Men’s Basketball Coach

San Diego State University Practice Court

McWil Sports Surfaces, Inc. completed their second project in the past year with San Diego State University (SDSU). Last summer, McWil renovated The Peterson Gym and this summer McWil installed a Connor Sports Focus court in the SDSU basketball practice facility.

SDSU was looking for a top performing court with great stability. They found both of these qualities in Connor Sport’s Focus court. McWil is glad to see their relationship with SDSU continue and looks forward to working with them as they maintain the court.

West Point Competition Court Refinishing

J.J. Curran and Son, Inc. and Praters Flooring refinished and rebranded the Army West Point men's and women's basketball teams' competition court at Christl Arena.

Fresno State North Gym Practice Court

Fresno State was seeking a high performance floor for its North Gym, the basketball and volleyball practice facility. After inspecting the conditions of Fresno's previous floor, Fresno and McWil Sports Surfaces Inc. decided to install a Connor Sports VIP court in the North Gym. The new VIP floor offers Fresno State athletes and coaches more cushion on the court, taking stress off their bodies so they can play safer and longer.

Florida International University Competition Court

In 1992 Hurricane Andrew came through and demolished the Florida International University (FIU) gymnasium court. After the storm, Trident Surfacing, a Connor Sports dealer located in Florida, came in and replaced the court with the same type of surface that has been in the FIU gymnasium since it was built in 1986.

Last summer, FIU was again in need of a new court but didn’t have time to redo the gymnasium prior to volleyball and basketball season. Trident Surfacing helped FIU find a portable court to use as a temporary playing surface.

This summer, Trident Surfacing and Praters Inc. tore out the old gymnasium court and replaced it with a unique Connor Sports court featuring a Southern Florida feel.

Marquette University Competition Court Redesign

Schmidt Custom Floor of Wisconsin’s athletic team re-designed and re-sanded the Al McGuire Center at Marquette University arena court. The Al McGuire Center is a 4,000-seat arena in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which houses the women's volleyball and basketball teams at Marquette University. It also serves as a practice facility for the men's basketball team.

The court took a total of three weeks to complete with eight crew-members and three graphic designers working on, and documenting, the project.
